Welcome to Tutuma Social Club.  We are optimistic and excited about our new club & restaurant that is going to change Manhattan’s dining, nightlife and entertainment scene, starting in April 2009.

This is the first Afro-Peruvian jazz venue in New York City. The top musicians in the world will be playing live every night, and helping to introduce this exciting new art form to the world.

Tutuma Social Club is a restaurant that is serious about presenting one of the most fascinating cuisines in the world, the food of contemporary Perú.

The club is the collective dream of many creative minds.

The owner of the club is Santina Matwey, a young New York restaurateur, who has literally been welcoming guests through food all of her life (or at least since age 6).

She has developed an environment where great food meets great music.  Modeled after the lively peñas, the music clubs of Lima, Tutuma Social Club’s party atmosphere is warm, inclusive and spotlights not only live music every night, but also the cuisine of two of Perú’s finest young international chefs, Carlos Testino and Rodrigo Conroy.

Tutuma’s unique musical offering is the brainchild of Gabriel Alegría and the Afro-Peruvian Sextet.  The group will be in residence in the club alongside national touring artists, local celebrities and of course, Afro-Peruvian musicians from every corner of Perú.
